Out in the World: Challenges Facing Progressive Christians
On Monday evenings, from 7:00-8:15 we
gather to participate in an adult discussion group entitled Living the
Questions 2. Each session will include interviews with several
of thirty well-known scholars or theologians addressing a particular
aspect of contemporary Christianity’s understanding of its past
traditions, present condition and future possibilities. The
theologians featured include Tex Sample, John Shelby Spong, Helen
Prejean, Nancy Ammerman and Matthew Fox, among many others.
Living the Questions 2 is an open-minded alternative to studies that
attempt to give participants all the answers. Living the questions
creates an environment where participants not only interact with one
another in exploring the best of today’s theological thought, but
together strive to explore what’s next for Christianity.
Each session will include interviews with prominent contemporary
scholars and theologians followed by a discussion based on the
provided downloadable study guides. Each week will focus on different
aspects of contemporary Christian life. The video segments, study
guides and discussion do not aim to ‘prove’ a point or make
specific conclusions. Instead they are intended to expose people to
concepts and ideas that are either new or in transition. The stated
aim of LtQ is to prime participants to be part of the fabric of a new
Christianity already being woven.
Even if you haven’t attended before, you are still welcome to join
us in the Narthex on Mondays, 7:00-8:15. Come live the questions with
us!
